PROJECT OVERVIEW

Wellness by Discover is a habitat for those who yearn to travel. For many, the best medicine is to have something to look forward to. The project concept is to bring people together through entertainment and education to make new connections and uncover the natural world.

The design showcases the story of Savannah mixing the new and traditional. The series of structures are meant to make a statement as if they were saying, “I have always been a part of Savannah” by cutting well into the site. Above grade, other elements are lightly placed to tell the story of how new developments are coming to the neighborhood.

PROGRAM

Yearn for Nature

This site celebrates the natural yearning for adventure and discovering something new. This can be expressed through the use of natural elements such as water and trees which serves as a oasis in the middle of new developments.

Digging into the City

To tell the story of always being a part of the city, the architecture is further integrated into the city by embedding space under the surface. This is juxtaposed with the newness of the above grade pavilions which express change and lightness.

Urban Fabric

In order to truly integrate the building into the rest of the city, the entire building must be split into a few structures. This will keep all dimensions similar to the surrounding landscape.

Freedom of Choice

In the natural word, one is not told what path they should go forward with. This architecture emulates a similar experience by having multiple forms of axis from many points. This also reinforces a sense of discovery.
